Scientist, Physiology & Experimental Medicine, Research Institute

Assistant Professor, Paediatrics, University of Toronto

Dr. Eiwegger is an allergy-immunology clinician scientist with an active interest in food allergy. Trained in Vienna he is heavily involved with many of the European immunology groups studying allergy.

Dr. Eiwegger’s main research interests are the mechanisms of IgE-mediated allergy; in particular, the mechanisms of tolerance development to food allergens and the markers thereof. He seeks to define new treatment approaches by delineating the sequence of events that take place in children who lose their food allergies.

Dr. Eiwegger is a co-lead and member of the food allergy studies in CHILD and brings additional basic science expertise to CHILD’s allergy-immunology team.
