Dylan, 10 years old, St. Albert, AB Statement: Small hands can make a big difference: When I was asked by my mom if I wanted to be part of the Covid-19 study with the Child Study program I was excited about the chance to help. My mom is a nurse at the hospital where they care for Covid 19 patients and I sometimes get scared that my mom will catch Covid too. I felt helpless at times and this study gave me the chance to help fight Covid-19. I drew this picture of a mine and my mom’s hands clasped together with a power charge behind it to show how together we are stronger in the fight against Covid-19. Small hands can make the difference!! |

Alex, 11 years old, Redwater, AB Statement: My part in Science: I am really grateful I get to apart of something bigger than I am. My grandma is a scientist at the UofA and she tells me all the time how important it is to be a volunteer for science. This is my way to make a difference for other kids. The Child study and the Covid Add on study are really great ways for scientists to figure out what is going on with kids and how kids immune systems are reacting to the new virus. I have been in the study since I was a new born baby. I am now 11 years old. |
