Dr. Takaro is a physician-scientist trained in occupational and environmental medicine, public health and toxicology. His research is primarily directed toward the links between human exposures and disease, and determining public health-based preventive solutions to such risks.

Dr. Takaro has been a lead investigator on various studies within CHILD on indoor environmental exposures, especially to phthalates, funded by Health Canada. He is also an investigator on the CIHR-funded projects “Early life determinants of asthma” and “CANUE – Canadian Consortium for the Urban Environment.”
