CHILD Cohort Study Director Dr. Padmaja Subbarao has been named the new Associate Chief of Clinical Research at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), effective 1 November 2021.

In this role, Dr. Subbarao will co-lead, with the Chief of Research, the development and realization of the clinical research agenda at SickKids: “developing and nurturing strategies, priorities and accountabilities to achieve success in clinical research,” in the words of the SickKids announcement.

According to SickKids, this new leadership position will synergize with Dr. Subbarao’s ongoing co-leadership of SickKid’s Precision Child Health (PCH) initiative: “As Associate Chief, Clinical Research, Dr. Subbarao will build out systematic processes to support clinical research and innovation, ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate in, and benefit from, PCH.”

Among Dr. Subbarao’s qualifications for the clinical research leadership position, SickKids references her “vision, perseverance and commitment to supporting team science in her role as Director of the CHILD Cohort Study.”

In addition to the titles mentioned above, Dr. Subbarao is Senior Scientist, Translational Medicine, and Staff Respirologist, Division of Respiratory Medicine, at SickKids. She is also Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at The University of Toronto, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University.
