Additional criteria for sample release
  • The request must relate to a hypothesis-driven study
  • The study must be deemed by the Executive of CHILD to be fundamentally important to the core objectives of the CHILD study
  • A strong rationale for the need for a longitudinal study design must be evident
  • There must be clarity on the precise samples needed and the volumes required
  • Evidence must be presented that the assays to be employed, and the laboratory to conduct the assays, have high quality control and quality assurance
  • The assays selected must be state-of-the-art, require minimal sample volumes and provide maximum data output; e.g., contrast single parameter analyses versus multiplex assays
  • Information must be provided on funding mechanisms for sample analyses and the study completion
  • Evidence must be provided that ethics approval is available
  • Rationale must be provided as to why the requested samples are required at the current time, rather than after completion of the Study’s 5-year follow-up, with the potential at that time for a more efficient study design; e.g., nested case-controls, etc.
