“Microbiome” refers to a community of microorganisms (such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses) that inhabit a particular environment, especially the collection of microorganisms living in or on the human body.
“Exposome” refers to all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. An individual’s exposure begins before birth and includes exposures to the indoor and outdoor environment; exposures related to diet and lifestyle; etc.
